    Questions

    Which calendar is used?

The Greek Orthodox calendar of the Church of Greece (the new calendar). Saint days that depend on Easter use the date of Orthodox Easter for that year.

Why does the date of some names change every year?

A few saints are celebrated on a day that depends on Easter, for example Lazaros, Vaios, Panagiotis and Pigi, Zoi and Krini, and Thomas. St George is moved after Easter when 23 April falls before it.

    Is the list complete?

No. It has the most common names. Many names have more than one name day, and some names have none. A name without a saint of its own is traditionally celebrated on All Saints Sunday.

Can I rely on it for a greeting card?

It is a good guide, but local customs differ. For something important, check with your family or your church.
