Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is compressed inside your browser and never leaves your device.
Which method should I choose?
Start with "Keep the text, make pictures smaller". It keeps the text selectable and the links working. If the file barely shrinks, or it is a scan, use "Turn every page into a picture". That gives the smallest file, but the text can no longer be selected.
Why did the file not get smaller?
A PDF that is mostly text has little to squeeze. In that case the tool keeps your original file and tells you.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not at the moment. Remove the password first, then compress.
