Who we are
BrokenTools is a free website run by Unscrew Guru, an independent developer. For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of the limited data described here. Contact: [email protected]
Your files
The tools on this site process your audio, video, PDF, Word, Excel, text and image files inside your own browser. Files are not uploaded to our servers and we do not keep copies. Because we never receive them, we also cannot recover them if you lose them, so keep your originals.
Data stored in your browser
The Studio can save projects on your device, in your browser storage (IndexedDB). This data never leaves your device and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser. Recordings made with the recorder and tuner stay in your browser until you download them.
Microphone
The tuner and recorder ask your browser for microphone access. Audio is processed locally. You can refuse or revoke access at any time in your browser settings.
What we collect
You do not need an account and we do not ask for personal details to use the tools. We do not sell data, and we do not run our own analytics or tracking scripts. If we add privacy-friendly statistics in the future, we will update this page first.
Cookies and advertising
This site is free and may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show, personalise and measure ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), you will be asked for consent before ad cookies are used, and you can change your choice later. You can learn more and manage ad settings at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://adssettings.google.com . You can also block cookies in your browser; the tools keep working.
Hosting and email
The site is a set of static files delivered by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process technical data such as your IP address and the page you requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacy/). If you write to us, your message is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our mailbox. We use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we delete them on request.
Support and donations
If you choose to support the site through an external service, the payment is handled by that service under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see or store your card or bank details.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. We process ad cookies on the basis of your consent, and server logs and email replies on the basis of our legitimate interest in running the site securely and answering you. To use your rights, email us. You can also complain to your data protection authority, for example the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (https://www.dpa.gr).
Children
The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Use of the tools
The tools are provided free and "as is", without warranty. Check the result before you rely on it, and keep your original files. You are responsible for having the right to process the files you use. Tools that validate numbers (such as a tax number or IBAN) only check the format and checksum; they do not confirm that an account or person exists.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
